                  Mark Peter Woodside

Joined the Navy after sputtering for two years at NVCC.   Six years later with three overseas deployments found myself back in College.   Armed with a BS degree in Accounting from PENN State, my career took off with NAVAIR.   It sustained my passion to see the world while playing underwater chess with our adversaries. Retired out of the Naval Reserves and NAVAIR. My spelunking hobby shifted to sea kayaking since living in Southern Maryland.   My better half resides in Stroud, England where you'll find me when not volunteering at a Food Bank/Thrift Store in Maryland.   Worried that our Democracy might not survive if we elect a narcissistic autocrat 2024.

My success came from making decisions well outside of personal box.   Just wish my Wordle solving skills were competitive to rest of you all.

                  Valerie List Owens

After living and raising our two daughters in the Chicagoland area for 25 years, Gary and I made the move to Wilmington, North Carolina, where we have been for almost 20 years.   SALT LIFE!

I retired from the school system eight years ago and now spend my days hanging out with my two doodles (see them), creating art, and teaching art to homeschool kids.
Gary Owens (FCHS class of 1972) and I have been married for 48 years now... and well, we act just like an old married couple!   Hard working Gary finally sold his business and retired last year.

We have been blessed with one smart, handsome, amazing grandson (no, i am NOT biased) who is already 14 years old and he has my heart.

Blessings

                                    Lyle Hayhurst

After graduating from FCHS, I attended Virginia Tech where I had a bit too much fun but met some life-long friends.   I returned to NoVA and eventually landed a job with the Department of Transportation, and spent most of those years with the Federal Highway Administration.

It was in 1979 that I met my wife, Margaret. (see them)   We married in 1984 and are still going strong.   Margaret also had a very successful career in security software and together we retired and moved to Southport, NC, a small little coastal town just north of Myrtle Beach.

Not long after retiring, we temporarily moved to Florida to help out with a family crisis, which led us to bring back to Southport our 11 year-old niece, Danielle, and her cat, Bolt.   So it was back to waking up early for car pooling and swim lessons after school.   We were always very close to Dani so the transition was easier than one might expect.   We are happy to say that after high school, Dani graduated from Appalachian State and now is in her second year at Eastern Kentucky University, earning her Masters in biology.   Margaret and I spend a few days a week playing golf, enjoying the nearby beach and getting together with friends here in Saint James Plantation, the community where we live.

Looking forward to seeing folks at the 50th.

Lyle
